Biota

These are the major groups with identified species and with many macroscopic members. There is at least one slime mold (Amoebozoa) awaiting identification. Links are also in the main menu.

Most of the listed species have been submitted to iNaturalist.

Scientific names include the author citation, which gives a standardized form of the name of the person to first publish the name, and in the case of botanical names, the person responsible for its current form (for example, if it was moved to a new genus). The format for author citations is different for species governed by the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) and the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICNafp).
